Power Conversion Products  :  Custom Design

We can use this capability to custom design and then manufacture power conversion products for original equipment manufacturers (OEM). If you need custom power conversion in quantities from one to thousands, send us your specifications or fill out our Custom OEM form and we would be pleased to submit a design and production proposal to meet your needs.

Some recent OEM products designed and manufactured are:

Power Supply, Hydrographic Survey Depth Sounder:

20-32 VDC In to 230 VDC @ 80 milli-amps, 15 VDC @ 2.5 amps, 12 VDC @ 200 milli-amps, 5 VDC @ 3 amps, -5 VDC @ 1 amp and -12 VDC @ 200 milli-amps. The OEM asked for a footprint to match a discontinued power supply. We made a better design. They found that our unit gave cleaner power than the original, permitting them to increase the sensitivity of their depth sounder.
Power Supply, Refrigerator:

SCR-based power supply works with a step down transformer to produce 7 amps of 12 VDC from a 110 VAC source at lower cost, allowing the OEM to meet their pricing goals.
Power Supply, Control and Alarm:

19-35 VDC In to 24 VDC @ 7 amps and 5 VDC @ 5 amps with precision regulation of both outputs. A dry contact relay indicated the status of the supply. Again this unit had to fit a designated footprint, and had stringent isolation requirements. We were not permitted to use a linear regulator to obtain the 5 VDC output, but rather a separate switching power supply was used for increased efficiency. A particular challenge of this design was synchronising the two switching controllers across a dielectric barrier.
Solar Battery Charger:

Converts the output from a 6 Volt nominal solar panel to 1.5 VDC to charge a high capacity Ni-Cad battery at up to 10 amps. Several challenges presented themselves during its development. We were required to use a high voltage diode as a final output stage, and control the voltage on the cathode of the diode to ± 0.075 volts without using feedback around it. We had to devise compensation circuits which allowed for the change in voltage drop across the diode with respect to current, and also with respect to its temperature. We also had to devise circuitry to match demand of the charger with the voltage vs. current output curves of the solar panel at various light levels.
Field Battery Pack with Integrated Charger:

Developed for the MBU field kitchen cook stove that the Proheat division of Teleflex builds for the US army. This battery pack contains 2 40 amp-hour VRLA batteries from Hawker Energy as well as an integrated multi-stage charger tailored to the requirements of these batteries. The charger is powered from any convenient source of 24 VDC such as the auxiliary power outlet on a standard military HumVee.
